Cows at the Library

This was the scene outside our Central Library yesterday - 2 cows (there was another one to the right of this photo) mooing and shaking their heavy heads on cue for a commercial. It was a nice relief from the Hideous Doings in our city government. And since the hours for the Los Angeles Public Library will be reduced starting next week, we need all moooooood enhancing we can get!

  1. My favorite part of this whole cow commercial business...? CHICK-FIL-A IS COMING TO LA!

They're opening one up by USC... right near the Exposition Park branch just as I'm leaving. How sad. I spend 7 years pining for Chick-Fil-A in Los Angeles, and it comes as soon as I'm leaving.

I'm glad you took a picture because I couldn't stop giggling about that email in my inbox.

  2. I am so sorry to hear that you are suffering from the same short-sighted cutbacks as we are in Australia. But I just have to tell you that when I saw the pic, I expected to read about you bringing cows to the library so kids can read to them!

  3. Love the picture!! Such a shame about your library cutbacks though :(

  4. Jennifer, your timing is just all off...
Library Cows - darn, wish I thought of that! I do think they'd make great reading buddies, although perhaps a bit unwieldy. Chickens are more portable - but they aren't good listeners.

  5. Good point, but how about a papier-mache cow? The kids could have a ball decorating it, and it would make a great focal point for a picture book display - click clack moo?

  6. My Grandpa made a papier-mache Frankenstein for the library once - too bad he's not still around,'cause I didn't inherit the arts-n-crafts gene.
