I just finished reading "Consuming Kids: The Hostile Takeover of Childhood," by Susan Linn, and I think this makes even some of her examples look benign. The donation aspect of this is squicky, too: charitable consumption always makes me a little nervous. I just can't believe they're targeting such a young crowd!
