She has a maid doll in her books. There's also The Tub People by Pam Conrad, but there are no maids in that book!Eva Mhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07921035998297319995noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6232965658384447649.post-65147686904895023342011-03-30T10:52:18.194-07:002011-03-30T10:52:18.194-07:00There was a book that I read when I was little tha...There was a book that I read when I was little that has a doll in it and she runs away. It was a picture book. The illustrations were a little watercolor-y. The doll was in the traditional French maid outfit. Black, long, white apron. She had painted on hair.

Do you have any idea? For some reason I think her name was Tilly. I read it in about 1980ish....any clue??Tiffanyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12271140179686854124noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6232965658384447649.post-14828299579243880922009-10-20T23:21:29.710-07:002009-10-20T23:21:29.710-07:00Amazon U.K. sells the Little Wooden Horse.Amazon U.K. sells the Little Wooden Horse.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6232965658384447649.post-61369882559346925402008-10-27T09:15:00.000-07:002008-10-27T09:15:00.000-07:00Well, there you have it! It's part of a three boook series. The first is Gobbolino, the Witch's Cat, and the third is The Further Adventures of Gobbolino and the Little Wooden Horse. All three are in print and available from Amazon.uk.

I loved Gobbolino as a child in a Scholastic paperback and was delighted to discover that there were two sequels! Though Gobbolino does not appear in the 2nd book.

They are fun reading and I recommend you either ILL them from a library that has them or get them from an online store. Have fun reading them!Jenny Schwartzberghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06346217514073560797noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6232965658384447649.post-19763259295035252052008-10-22T08:07:00.000-07:002008-10-22T08:07:00.000-07:00Probably you'll find a copy on Ebay for $83 (and i...Probably you'll find a copy on Ebay for $83 (and it just might be worth the price). My long-lost copy was a yellow-covered Puffin paperback purchased by my parents at Foyles in London for me when we lived in Germany. So far I've been unable to find a copy. I mainly remember lots of hardships (a la Tulane) with a happy ending, of course!Monica Edingerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03924540264341924291noreply@blogger.com
